What happened at Farewell Spit?
300 whales got themselves beached unto shore, unfortunately numerous of hard work and time that the people put effort into the whales died.
Nearly the whole day kiwi's run back and forth with buckets of sea water to put on the whales so they won't get dry and suffocate.
Unfortunately not all of them survived, only some of them made it back to the deep blue sea.

It is so unfortunate that they couldn't save them all but it is nice to know that some of them made it back safely!
