Summer Learning Journey Day 1 Activity 2

Hello fellow travelers,

Just letting you know that my voyage to New Zealand is going absolutely amazing and satisfying. I've got more and more excited as I go pass many interesting sea creatures on my journey. It is very scary and really hard moving to New Zealand, however I know I will fit in just fine. I will let you know more very soon.

Yours truly Sarah

Hi Sarah,

Well done! This is a great letter. I like how you have talked about how scared you are. A lot of the original settlers would have been scared, I'm sure.

I wonder what sorts of sea creatures you think they would have seen? They may have seen some stingrays I think. What else might they have seen?

What do you think the settlers would have been looking forward to when they arrived in New Zealand? I would have looked forward to having my feet on solid ground again!

Cheers,
Ruby.

Hi Sarah,

What good thinking! I hadn't thought about them seeing birds so I'm glad I asked you! My ideas were that they might have seen whales, dolphins, and perhaps some flying fish! Have you ever seen a flying fish before?

Cheers,
Ruby.
